Letter home to Eckford, Dec 11, 1862

a box of things rety to send & a Rice Pudding Request


The letter is undated, but I think it is sometime after Dec 10, 1862 when Wm was separated from the main body of the regiment.

Dear Father
here is a box of things that I hav got rety to send to you here is some reble knives that we got of[f] the Prisoners and one of them is marked for Uncle [Gregg?] and one of them for you and one of the others is for lester mumbrue and you can do what you please with the others

pages 2 and 3 I Did not know hardly what to do about sending this box of things   I got rety[ready] to send one once before and I had no brother to send them to   I Did not Pay the charges on this for it would cost a great deal more to pay it here than it would thare   tell mother I want her to make one great Puding out of this rice and eat half of it for me
