Louisville Dec 10th
Dear Perants How do you all do    this morning I am not very well    at presant I hav got a pretty hard cold and my thoat is considerble sore    thar is about 125 of our redgment got seperated from the regiment    the main part of the redg has gone to south farther and we ar sent to the baroes[barracks?] in the city     last night for my supper I had hard crackers and molders[?] and then slept on a board with my blankets over me and this morning we had bacon...

...and soft bread but I shall hav better living as soon as I get able to get to my regiment    day before yesterday we lost one of our comrades Mr Collins    he was from south of Marshall    he was on guard at the depot and he was aloading some old muskets on the cars and one of them happend to be loaded and it went off and shot him    the ball struck him about as high as high as the top of his pants and took of a button of[f] from his coat and drove it though him and it...
